United States Forest Paonia P.O. Box 1030
USDA Department of Service Ranger District N Rio Grande Ave.
Agriculture Paonia, CO 81428
970 - 527 -4131
File Code: 2820
Date: January 20, 2015
Mr. James R. Stark
Colorado Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety
Office of Mined Reclamation
1313 Sherman Street, Room 215
Denver, Colorado 80203
Dear Jim:
The Paonia Ranger District of the Grand Mesa, Uncompahgre and Gunnison National Forest
(GMUG) has completed its review of Mountain Coal's Technical Revision 136 (TR -136). TR-
136 proposes minor changes in the placement of three (3) methane drainage wells in the E -6
panel of the E Seam Methane Drainage Wells Project. A representative of the Paonia Ranger
District was present during the re- location of the methane drainage wells and no additional
resource concerns were identified.
Our review has found that TR -136 is subject to the March 2008 Record of Decision (ROD) for
the E Seam Methane Drainage Wells Project. Its proposed measures to protect federal resources
and the post- mining land use are consistent with the design features identified in the ROD. No
additional conditions of approval are required to protect federal resources and support the post -
mining land use as defined in the Forest Plan of the GMUG National Forest.
If you have any questions please contact Daniel Gray at (970) 527 -4131 or via email at
degraygafs.fed.us.
Sincerely,
LEVI K.
