CROSSFIRE AGGREGRATE EXHIBIT )
SERVICES,LLC
The untreated big sagebrush community encompasses approximately 5%of the project area. This
vegetation type is associated with Witt loam soils. Non-irrigated production of this range vegetation
type averages 1,100 pounds of dry weight per acre(USDA NRCS 2014). Big sagebrush is the dominate
species within this vegetation type. Other species include galletta, blue grama, bottlebrush squirreltail
(Elymus elymoides),June grass, Indian ricegrass, tumble mustard and prickly pear. Estimated canopy
cover of this area is 20-25 percent.Vegetative ground cover is relatively sparse, estimated at 10 to 15
percent.
Within the untreated big sagebrush community, there is a small area (approximately 0.5 acre)of black
sagebrush (Artemisia nova). This vegetation type is associated with Witt loam soils. Non-irrigated
production of this range vegetation type averages 1,100 pounds of dry weight per acre (USDA NRCS
2014). Black sagebrush is the dominate over-story species with galletta, blue grama and June grass in
the understory. Estimated canopy cover of this area is 20-25 percent.Vegetative ground cover is
relatively sparse, estimated at 10 to 15 percent.
The Herbaceous Agricultural Vegetation type is alluvial farmland terrace. Only the access road is
contained within this vegetation type. The vegetation type is associated with Shalona loam soil. Non-
irrigated production of this vegetation type averages 1,500 pounds of dry weight per acre(USDA NRCS
2014). Plant species within this area include alfalfa (Medicago sativa).
The map provides a complete list of plants occurring in the project area as recorded during the biological
survey.
Biological, or cryptogrammic soil crusts occur on the soil surface of the project area in a random
manner. These crusts are composed of multiple organisms including cyanobacteria, green algae, lichens,
mosses, microfungi, and other bacteria (Belnap at al. 2001).
Non-native and Invasive Species
Non-native and invasive species in the area are minimal and low in densities. Most are limited to the
side of the existing access.Species present are:cheat grass (Anisantha techtorum), common alyssum
(Alyssum minuis), herb sophia (Descurainia sophia),western tansymustard (Descuriania pinnata),filare
(Erodium cicutarium),field bindweed (Convolvulus arvense),stickseed (Hackelia opiz) and Canada thistle
(Cirsium arvense).
Prepared by Tegre Corp.
1199 Main Ave., Suite 101
Durango, CO 81301 ,5 1
(970)828-1811
