2.05.3
Gob will also be generated from the preparation plant. The principal
additives used in the preparation plant are magnetite and flocculent. The
plant is designed to run as a closed circuit relative to these additives. The
thickener is designed to recover as much of these additives as possible.
There will be minor amounts of flocculent and magnetite that bind with the
gob produced by the plant. No chemical sludge will be generated by the
preparation plant.
Gob from the preparation plant flows to a 100 ton storage bin. Haul trucks
(20 to 40 ton) load refuse from the storage bin and haul it to one of the active
gob piles. Gob handling details are explained in Volumes IX and XI.
The annual volume of gob produced will be variable based on run -of -mine
coal quality. The following table shows the amount of gob produced during
the last five years.
Year
Gob Tons
Clean Coal Tons
Gob Tons /Million Clean
2009
219,300
1,212,977
108,795
2010
212,739
1,325,208
160,533
2011
345,143
2,235,055
154,423
2012
575,900
3,430,282
167,887
2013
844,375
3,320,696
254,277
One of the Operator's coal sales contract expired around the end of 2014.
Therefore, coal production will decrease for the foreseeable future. The
Operator has analyzed its in place coal quality and future coal sales quality
requirements to estimate the amount of gob that will be generated through
the permit term.
