December 30, 2014 C- 1981 - 022 /Elk Creek Mine JRS <br />GENERAL MINE PLAN COMPLIANCE: <br />- As noted at the beginning of this inspection report, the Elk Creek Mine has been idled as the result of a fire in the <br />gob behind the longwall in panel 18. As such, there are no mining or development operations taking place at this <br />time. There is no timeline for the resumption of mining or development operations. The only activity at the site is <br />basically limited to surface operations and maintenance. <br />ROADS — Rule 4.03: Construction 4.03.1(3)/4.032(3); Drainage 4.03.1(4)/4.032(4); Surfacing and Maintenance <br />4.03.1(5) and (6)/4.032(5) and (6); Reclamation 4.03.1(7)/4.032(7): <br />- The mine entrance/haul road was plowed but had some snow on it. The road appeared to be stable and there <br />were no erosional problems noted at the time of the inspection. <br />- The haul road to the Elk Creek Mine portals was covered with several inches of snow at the time of the <br />inspection. The road appeared to remain stable and there were no erosional problems noted. <br />- The roads around the Sanborn Creek facilities area and the east storage yard were all plowed but covered with <br />some packed snow. The roads were all stable and well maintained and no erosional problems were noted at the <br />time of the inspection. <br />SUPPORT FACILITIES - Rule 4.04: <br />- The east storage yard area was stable at the time of the inspection. The materials placed in this area were in good <br />order. <br />- The crusher /screener area was in good condition at the time of the inspection. <br />- There is still approximately 25,000 cubic yards of coal remaining in the stockpile. Elk Creek is in the process of <br />loading this coal into highway -legal trucks and hauling it to the Bowie No. 2 Mine. The coal stockpile area was <br />stable and no problems were noted. <br />DOCUMENTS RECEIVED: None <br />This concludes the 30 December 2014 partial inspection report for the Elk Creek Mine. <br />Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 5 <br />Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 2 <br />Page 3 of 8 <br />
