Depending on how they respond, it may be the only
one that we ever write for that TR. That remains to be seen.
I do not have the time to send you every adequacy letter. Please look for them in the Laserfiche
system. You can type *adequacy* in the Doc Name field and also limit your time frame with the Doc
Date fields.
Coal seams are monitored at many regulated coal mines in Colorado. This is required by Regulation
41 (The Basic Standards for Groundwater) of the WQCD. Although water in coal seams is often in
poor condition prior to any mining activity, there is still the potential for the water to deteriorate due to
mining. For example, the water in a coal seam aquifer may be of sufficient quality for livestock but not
for domestic use; after mining, however, it may be less useful for livestock. This deterioration has not
occurred at Southfield, however, per a review of the data.
Groundwater below the coal seams was not monitored due to the lack of connectivity between the coal
seams and viable aquifers. For a more extensive explanation, please see the memorandum from Mike
Boulay, DRMS (June 3, 2013).
Regards,
Rob
https: / /mail.googl e.com /m ai I /u/0 / ?ui =2 &i k= e29129fcb5 &view =pt &search= i nbox &th= 14ac54264873lf91 &si m l= 14ac542648731 f91 1/2
