1/7/2015 State.co.us Executive Branch Mail - Fwd: Size and acre feet of water in Pond 4 and evaporation cal ulation
Date: Tue, 2 Dec 2014 10:40:10 -0700
Subject: Re: Size and acre feet of water in Pond 4 and evaporation calulation
From: rob.zuber @sLate.co.us
To: saunders615 @live.com
Linda —
I am answering your questions, but I am generally not addressing any comments without a specific question.
I am not sure what map you are referring to —please clarify. I assume that you are referring to a map in the Southfield
PAP. Either way, you must always be aware of the possibility that a map was enlarged or shrunk. Thus it is best to use
the scale rather than count on "1 inch — 400 feet" or something similar.
Your surface area of 0.688 acres appears to be in the ballpark. Please seethe attached design (Map 23) from the PAP.
I cannot accurately say how much water has been in the pond. I did not perform a survey of the pond.
You asked if think that the pond would hold one acre foot maximum. No, I think that the number would be larger.
Again see Map 23, which indicates that the depth at the open spillways is approximately ten feet. Given this depth
and a surface area of almost an acre, the volume would be much more than one acre foot.
Regarding TDS monitoring, are you referring to requirements at Phase 11 bond release? If so, we will address these
requirements when EFCI submits their application for this bond release.
Regards,
Rob
fi
Environmental Protection Specialist 11
Coal Re,
COLORADO
Mird:rtg and Safety
Division of Reclarri,atiort,
[)eparti,nen of Nahiral Resources
P 303.866.3567, extension 3113 I F 303.83206106
1313 Sherman Street, Room 215, Denver, CO 80203
rob.zuber @state. co. us I http: / /mining.state.co.us
hftps://mail.google.com/mail/u/0/?ui=2&ik=e29129fcb5&vi ew =pt &search= i nbox &th= 14ac54062f8187fd &si m 1= 14ac54062f8187fd 2/3
