December 31, 2014C-1981-038/Bowie No. 1 MineMLT
FISH and WILDLIFE –Rule 4.18:
Five elk were caught grazing at the East Mine, northwest of Ponds 1 and 2(Photo 6).
At each of the reclaimed sites, there were numerous game tracks in the fresh snow. It is
apparent that deer and elk frequently utilize the reclaimed roadways, which allow easier
travel than pushingthrough areas dominated by dense oak brush.
Sets of tracks seem to be more plentiful on smooth slopes (Photo 7)than they are on slopes
reclaimed to a pock-marked texture.
OTHER (DRILL HOLES):
Photos 8 and 9 show the locations of a number of drill hole pads to the east of Stevens Gulch
Road. The Division has made a tentative identification of the holes using information
provided on Map 4-1 (Hydrologic Reconnaissance) of the permit.
ENFORCEMENT ACTIONS/COMPLIANCE
No enforcement actions were initiated as a result of this inspection, nor are any pending.
Number of PartialInspection this Fiscal Year: 4
312
Number of CompleteInspections this Fiscal Year: 3Page of
