December 31, 2014 C -1982- 057 /Seneca II -W Mine JHB
ROADS — Rule 4.03
Construction 4.03.1(3)/4.03.2(3)
Drainage 4.03.1(4)/4.03.2(4)
Surfacing and Maintenance4.03.1(5) and (6)/4.03.2(5) and (6)
Reclamation 4.03.1(7)/4.03.2(7):
The roads throughout the mine site are snow covered. The main access road has been plowed to the shop
area. The access road to the oil well has also been plowed. Road G has not been plowed. Tire tracks from a
vehicle were observed on road G up to T -22. No problems could be observed with any of the roads due to the
snow cover.
RECLAMATION SUCCESS - Rule 4.15, Rule 3:
Although the site is snow bound, larger shrubs and tall grasses still extend above the snow. The snow
fence at the top of the ridge west of PD -4 drainage is still visible. It appears to aid in snow deposition on the lee
side. It is noted that there were numerous large animal tracks, probably elk, on the ridge north of the snow fence.
The operator installed an electric fence around the living snow fence transplants. Once the snow melts off, the
operator should evaluate if the electric fence is adequate to restrict browsing damage by the deer and elk of the
transplanted trees and shrubs.
SLIDES and DAMAGE - Rule 4.12:
The snow cover provides good relief of the previous land instability areas. No new, unmapped slumps or
slides were noted. Reclaimed slopes appear stable from the photos.
SUPPORT FACILITIES - Rule 4.04:
The main access road has been plowed to the shop area. Only a small path has been plowed around the
shop building. No activity at the shop was apparent form the photos.
DOCUMENTS RECEIVED NA
OTHER (SPECIFY) NA
ENFORCEMENT ACTIONS /COMPLIANCE
No enforcement actions were taken as a result of this inspection, nor are any currently pending.
Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 4
Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 2
Page 3 of 6
