Test
columns (6" I.D. PVC) and associated apparatus were thoroughly washed with detergent, rinsed
with deionized water(DI H20), washed with dilute HC1 solution and rinsed repeatedly with
DI H2O to provide a clean environment for conducting MWMP extractions. Synthetic meteoric
water(DI H2O @-pH 5.97) was used as extraction fluid and was applied at a constant rate until
eluded solution weight was equal to the weight of the dry sample charge.
Effluent volumes were measured by weighing. Solutions were mixed by agitation and effluent
pH was recorded. A 2 L aliquot of each effluent was taken and filtered through a 0.45µm filter
to produce extracts. Extracts were appropriately preserved and submitted to WET Lab for NDEP
profile II plus uranium, ammonia, conductivity and hardness. Column charges were then
allowed to completely drain down and were removed from the test columns and used to
determine residual moisture content.
MWMP extraction test data is provided in Table 4. Profile II analytical results are provided in
Table 5. WET Lab original report sheets for Profile I analyses are included in the Appendix to
this report.
Table 4.-MWMP Extract Test Data,Bulldog Project
Moisture, Distribution,
Temp°C Flow Rate, Extraction Volume,L pH wt.pct. wt.pct.')
Sample I.D.
