George Patterson
Page 5
December 22, 2014
• At MW -16 both the Jack O'Lantern and Red Arrow coal seams were found to be dry.
• At MW -NW no data is available.
It is not possible to project a potentiometric surface from two points (particularly since the two
wells in question are screened in different seams), however the relative potentiometric head
values at MW -23 and MW -65 are generally consistent with what might be expected given the
depth of overburden.
Per historical AHR data, the water level in MW -23 has been generally decreasing since the
1980s, but the decline has been minor over recent years and may have reached a plateau. See
Figure 2 in the 2013 AHR.
Per historical AHR data, the water level in MW -65 has fluctuated since the 1980s, with no
general upward or downward trend (after a precipitous drop circa 1987). See Figure 3 in the
2013 AHR.
If you have any questions feel free to contact me at (303) 866 -3567, extension 8113.
Sincerely,
Robert Zuber, P.E.
Environmental Protection Specialist II
