# Acres seeded: 162.9 acres
Seed mixes used: Grassland seed mix and Sagebrush Steppe seed mix
Seed mixes are shown in Figure 4 -1. CCC provided copies of seed tags as
well.
Seed tags were verified. CCC used the approved seed mixes. Seeding rate
was slightly heavier than Table 2.05 -7 and 2.05 -9 rates, which is acceptable.
The Division has no comments regarding the seed tags.
Shrub Transplant Plots: None planted in 2013
Augmentation:
Weed control: Colowyo's 2013 ARR report reads "Rule 2.04.13(1)(a- 0 ... The report shall
include, but not limited to, text, discussion, and maps which address: the
species, location and number of acres of vegetation planted that year,
including any augmented seeding or cultural practices."
CCC provided Section 15 -Weed Management in the 2013 ARR. CCC
provided a table with the parcel identification, targeted noxious weed
species, chemicals used, and application method. No map was provided
specifically showing where the chemicals were applied. Cross - reference to
Map 5A allows for adequate location of each reclamation parcel. Although
the rate of pesticide application, and timing of application, was not
provided, continued monitoring of the reclaimed areas by CCC personnel
and DRMS inspectors is adequate to evaluate effectiveness of weed control
efforts, and evaluate if additional efforts are warranted. This section is
adequate.
Temporary seeding: None.
Location , number of acres, and date of planting of all previously vegetated areas:
Exhibit 5A 2013 Chronological Seeding map is referenced for all previous vegetated areas.
2) Additional info as committed to in the permit
CCC also provided the 2013 Vegetation Monitoring report. Section 4.15.1 of the permit defines
the parameters to be collected and the schedule that the operator will conduct interim vegetation
monitoring. Interim vegetation monitoring is not required to meet sample adequacy or sampling
protocols required by reclamation success criteria. CCC conducts a visual assessment and a
seedling emergence evaluation during the first growing season following seeding. CCC also
commits to conducting herbaceous cover and woody plant density sampling the second and
fourth growing season following seeding. CCC will conduct herbaceous cover, productivity, and
woody plant density the seventh growing season following seeding, then every third year after
that, until Phase III bond release has been achieved on a reclamation parcel.
The results of the sampling will be submitted to the Division with the ARR, along with a map
delineating the sampled parcels.
In 2013, CCC conducted vegetation sampling on twelve reclamation parcels, the mountain shrub
reference area, the sagebrush reference area, and the Tall Shrub study area. Several parcels in the
East Pit, EP047, EP048 still exhibit a high concentration of annual species. EP047 and EP048
were seeded in 2006 (2006 ARR). 2013 represents the seventh growing season since seeding.
2
