RECLAMATION PLAN EXHIBIT E (cont) seeding rates listed in this plan will be doubled if broadcast seeding is used. Since the intended end use of the reclaimed land is as a commercial development area, the fill slopes around the level areas will be restored to rates commensurate with such use, i .e. 3h: ly or less . A weed control plan is included in this application to address noxious weed control . Access roads will be left around the mine to provide access for planting crews, and for the supervision and inspection of the completed reclamation. These roads will remain when mining ends to ensure the owner' s have access to the site. Final grading on the roads and commercial development area will be done before the pit is closed. FERTILIZER The operator may have to apply fertilizers to the seedbed before planting to enhance the natural nutrients in the soil . Topsoiled areas may also be tested during the beginning of the second year and fertilizer added accordingly because the soils may lose their nutrients rapidly. Usually the NRCS recommends Nitrogen (N,) , Phosphorus (P,O,) and Potassium (K) to enhance growth so if needed their recommendations will be used. SEEDBED PREPARATION When the backfilling and slope shaping is complete the soils will be spread. The seed bed will be smoothed of large clods and worked until moderately fine. The surface will be left fairly rough where seed is to be broadcast . SEEDING TIME The grass seed will be planted between October 1 and April 30 and (before the first freeze and after the last freeze) of any given year. The time of planting will be controlled by when the seedbed areas are ready for planting. If tests indicated fertilizer is needed it will be tilled into the seedbed prior to seeding. GRASSES The following grass mix has been used by Albert Frei and Sons, Inc . , on other mined in the Adams County area and has proven grow and survive very well in this climate.
