MINING PLAN EXHIBIT D(CONT)
The PRE-MINING MAP-EXHIBIT C shows how the area looks at this time.
The gravel deposit is an alluvial deposit that averages 15 to 45
feet deep across the property. This deposit will tend to thin as
mining progresses from east to west and moves into the lower
level . The deepest area is under the terrace area on the east .
The numerous buildings and structures located on the site at this
time will be demolished and hauled from the site prior to mining
commencing. This includes any buried gas, phone and water lines
on the site . The operator will contact a buried line location
service to check the area for any type of buried utility or
gasline that are not owned by the landowners and need to be left
when mining is complete.
MAP EXHIBIT C shows the outline of the mining area, the touching
landowners, the 200 foot ownership, current topography, and
hydrologic features of the property. The land is presently used
for rural residential and agricultural purposes by the
landowners . Most of the area is highly disturbed where equipment
has been stored or used for various agricultural activities .
Most of the area would be considered poor range land or pasture.
There has been little or no maintenance of the site for many
years . It is overgrown by invading weeds and contains little
natural vegetation except around the old gravel mine lake.
Cottonwood, Elm and Russian Olive trees have invaded the area on
the lower terrace and western area that have shallow ground
water. The Russian Olive trees will be removed during mining and
any other trees outside the area to be disturbed will remain.
Access to the site is via 2 existing driveways; one from the
Monaco Street on the east side and the other down a shared
private lane from East 88th Ave. , on the southwest part of the
property. The driveways will be widened and maintained as needed
and will remain when mining is complete . Since the lanes are an
existing private road that will remain when reclamation ends,
they are not included as part of the permit area.
GEOLOGIC SETTING
The affected lands are located along the South Platte River in a
Quaternary age, Piney Creek alluvial deposit . The eastward
dipping beds of Upper Cretaceous age are overlain at an angular
unconformity by the Pine Creek alluvium. The sand and gravel
encountered in the Piney Creek alluvium are a result of water
4(Revised 12/15/2014)
