12/F'2014 State.co.us Executive Branch Mail - Lindstrom Gravel Pit- Permit No. M- 1993 -069
STATE OF Russell - DNR, Elliott <elliott.russell @state.co.us>
COLORADO
Lindstrom Gravel Pit - Permit No. M- 1993 -069
Alan Samber <asamber @loganco.gov> Fri, Dec 5, 2014 at 2:15 PM
To: elliott.russell @ state.co.us
Cc: Rob Quint <quintr @logancountyco.gov >, Rocky Samber <RSamber @logancountyco.gov >, Dave Donaldson
< Donaldson @logancountyco.gov >, Gene Meisner <GMeisner @logancountyco.gov>
Dear Mr. Russell:
Logan County holds permit no. M- 1993 -069 for a sand and gravel mining operation on property owned by Neil
Lindstrom in Logan County. Although the underlying lease agreement between Logan County and Neil Lindstrom
has expired, Logan County has continuing interest in renewing the lease and has existing reclamation
responsibility for areas it has used.
It has recently come to our attention that Mr. Lindstrom entered into a sand and gravel mining lease agreement
with Vesco Consulting Services, LLC, 1624 E US Hwy 34, Greeley, CO for land in the N1/2 of Section 17,
Township 6 North, Range 51 West, Logan County. The lease agreement is recorded in Logan County records at
Book 1006, Page 976, and will be scanned and emailed to you separately. This is the same site that Logan
County has mined under the above permit. Our recent inspection of the site confirmed that Vesco Consulting
Services, LLC has erected its signs at the site (photographs taken December 4, 2014, attached), has equipment
on the site, and appears to be conducting sand and gravel mining operations. However, Logan County does not
believe that Vesco Consulting Services, LLC has obtained the required state permit to conduct mining activities
or supplied the required bonding to secure its reclamation responsibility.
To the extent that Logan County has existing reclamation responsibilities for the site and Vesco's mining
operations will increase the surface area for which reclamation is required, we will appreciate your assistance, as
the regulatory authority, in insuring that Vesco Consulting Services LLC ceases its operations until it has
obtained the appropriate permit and secures its responsibility for reclamation.
Please feel free to contact me if I can provide further information and thank you in advance for your attention
and assistance in this matter.
Sincerely,
Alan W.
