MANAGEMENT
December 2, 2014
Susan Burgmaier
Division of Reclamation, Mining & Safety
1313 Sherman St., Room 215
Denver, CO 80203
Re: Bowie Resources, LLC, Bowie No. 2 Mine (Permit No. C- 1996 -083)
3rd Quarter 2014 Waste Bank Inspection Report
3rd Quarter 2014 VWP Monitoring Results
Adequacy Response
Dear Ms. Burgmaier:
The DRMS' letter dated November 13, 2014 submitted its complete adequacy response
for 3rd Quarter coal mine waste banks inspection report and 3rd Quarter 2014 VWP
monitoring results. On behalf of Bowie Resources, LLC, following are its responses to
the adequacy letter.
1. General comments: BRL will need to consider the increase in gob production
when determining the required capacity of refuse disposal areas for the remaining life
of mine.
BRL: Comment noted.
2. Material Balance: No response is necessary.
3. Compaction Testing: Please consider the development of an additional Mositure-
Density curve(s) that will successfully represent materials that lie intermediate to the
two curves addressed in DRMS' adequacy letter. The inclusion of Gradation, Atterburg
Limits, and Description (Classification) for any curves so developed would be highly
beneficial.
BRL: To establish a more complete data set of Moisture - Density curves, a sample will
be obtained during each site visit. The sample will be used in the laboratory to
generate a moisture - density curve, gradation, and an atterburg limit. This data will
then be used to compile a range of values that exist for the coal mine waste.
