RE077 ]
Dan Collins, Co- Trustee, Deep Creek Placer
1417 S. Grandview Dr. DEC 0 2 2014
Tempe, AZ 85281
DIVISION OF RECLAMATION
Nov. 24, 2014 MINING AND SAFETY
Division of Reclamation, Mining, and Safety
1313 Sherman St., Room 215
Denver, Colorado 80203
Annual Report: Deep Creek Placer (Permit No. M -1986 -102)
Dear Sir or Madam: Please accept this Annual Report on the "Deep Creek Placer," a temporarily
inactive limestone mine 7 miles west of Telluride, Colorado at the confluence of Deep Creek and
the San Miguel river.
- -No mining has taken place in the year Sept. 1, 2013 — present
-- Portals to the mine have been checked and they are secure
-- Equipment room entrance locked and secured.
-- Routine maintenance of access road carried out, summer /fall 2014
-- Annual maintenance of stormwater "ponds" along access road for capturing runoff is complete.
-- Access road was cleared and graded.
- -New culvert installed (11/14) at foot of access road at intersection of Mine Road and CR639.
-- Access road gate is secure and locked
- -No disturbances to the surrounding land or the mine itself are anticipated.
-- Regular maintenance of roads, equipment apron, portals, and storm water ponds will be
conducted by myself and caretaker Fabian Garcia over the course of the coming year.
As a reminder, last year we submitted an application for "Temporary Cessation' as per
description in your letter dated February 28, 2013.
1. Reason for non - production:
While there are on -going discussions in the family regarding future uses of the mine, the
cost of fuel and other factors such as the demand for limestone in the marketplace make it
difficult to predict what commercially viable opportunities will present themselves in the
near future. We are requesting that the mine continue under "Temporary Cessation"
status for the next five years. As there are very few commercially accessible limestone
sources within a 100 mile radius of the mine, we feel the mine has future potential as a
source for high quality calcium carbonate.
2. A general plan for the resumption of mining:
The resumption of mining would require the following (minimal) steps:
a. Clean-up of non - mining related storage.
b. Re- installation of high capacity air- handling system to maintain fresh air
circulation throughout the mine system
c. Hook -up of outdoor electric "grizzly" for material sorting and grading.
d. Re- plumbing of underground water storage tank for hard -rock drilling.
e. Securing of explosives shed for Prell and related materials.
f. Provisions for outdoor fuel storage with approved container and berm.
