PERMIT #: M- 1979 -191
INSPECTOR'S INITIALS: ECS
INSPECTION DATE: November 26, 2014
OBSERVATIONS
This inspection was conducted by Eric Scott of DRMS. On June 9, 2014 DRMS received an application for a
permit amendment (AM01) for the 3 -Bells 112c site from the permittee (Martin Marietta Materials — MMM).
This "pre -op" inspection for AM01 was conducted after an acreage release (AR01) of approximately 48 acres
of un -mined area was approved on November 4, 2014. The acreage release was submitted so that, when
approved, the proposed AM01 permit boundary would reflect the current site conditions. The pending
amendment, when approved, will change the post- mining land use to developed water storage, and resolve a
current boundary issue located on the northeast side of the northern (Ditullio) parcel and near the current
scale house.
All mining has been completed in the southern (Veldman) parcel of the permit area and reclamation as lined
water storage is underway (Photos 4 -6). MMM stated that the reclamation of this parcel will be completed in
the 2015 season.
Active mining is taking place in the northern (Ditullio) parcel at this time (Photos 1 -3). Excavation is taking
place near the plant area on the east side of the river, and the new conveyor to move material across the river
from west to east is under construction (Photo 3). The previous issue of stockpile location noted in the
inspection for AR01 has been resolved. No other issues were noted during this inspection. Although the
operator is under time pressures to complete the mining and reclamation in this area, they should continue to
be aware of all permitting and reclamation requirements, and the need to properly segregate topsoil from
overburden and maintain it properly until use in final reclamation.
Inspection Contact Address
Julie Mikulas
Martin Marietta Materials, Inc
2625 Redwing Dr., Suite 370
Fort Collins, CO 80526
