PERMIT #: M- 2014 -034 <br />INSPECTOR'S INITIALS: TOD <br />INSPECTION DATE: August 6, 2014 <br />OBSERVATIONS <br />This pre- operation inspection was conducted in response to a request for a new 112c permit application (M- <br />2014 -034) that the Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety (DRMS) received on June 27, 2014. This pre - <br />operation inspection was conducted by Tyler O'Donnell of DRMS. Huerfano County, the Operator, was <br />represented by Melanie Bounds during the inspection. Joeseph Gagliano, the consultant for Huerfano County, <br />was present during the inspection. <br />The Lone Tree Pit was located approximately 4.5 miles northeast of Walsenburg, Colorado north of Highway <br />160. The Lone Tree Pit is proposed as a 56 -acre pit for the removal of construction materials, primarily gravel. <br />The proposed post- mining land use is rangeland. The site was surrounded by rangeland. <br />The sky was clear. The ground was dry. The required public notice required by Rule 1.6.2(b) was posted at the <br />entrance of the site. The proposed Lone Tree Pit site sits on the flank of a gravel knob. The site was currently <br />being used to graze cattle. The current vegetation on the proposed mine site consist of grasses, forbs, and <br />shrubs. The soil consists of large rocks and cobble just beneath the land surface.
