The operator, Oakridge Energy, Inc., is proposing to revise the post- mining land use for
from Industrial /Commercial, Recreational, and Residential to Dryland Pasture, which includes roads and
wells to be retained as permanent features. Carbon Junction Mine is an inactive mine located
approximately 2 miles southeast of Durango in La Plata County.
According to the submittal, it appears the applicant is requesting to retain Well PW1 (AKA 82 -4) and
Well 95 -1 as permanent features of the reclamation plan. According to this office's records, Well PW1
(AKA 82 -4) was recently repermitted under permit no. 296114 and Well 95 -1 was recently repermitted
under permit no. 296113. Permit nos. 296113 and 296114 are both valid permits which each allow for
ordinary household purposes inside not more than three (3) single family dwellings, the irrigation of not
more than one (1) acre of home gardens and lawns, and the watering of domestic animals and livestock,
with a maximum pumping rate not to exceed fifteen (15) gallons per minute. This office has no
objection to the proposal as submitted, so long as both wells are operated within the conditions of their
respective well permit.
Thank you for the opportunity to comment on this application. If you have any further questions
regarding this matter, please feel free to contact me directly at this office.
Sincerely,
CAU
Caleb Foy, E
Water Resources Engineer
cc: Robert Genualdi, Division 7 Engineer (via email)
Jeff Titus, District 30 Water Commissioner (via email)
Office of the State Engineer
1313 Sherman Street, Suite 818 • Denver, CO 80203 • Phone: 303 - 866 -3581 • Fax: 303 - 866 -3589
http://water.state.co.us
