CWDA NO. 2
#O1349-0001 Iluddlomit -Bern'
11/14/14 8 r . —1
Discussion
As indicated in the referenced report, the stability of CWDA No. 2 is sensitive to increases in
pore pressures in VWP -08. An increase in the pore pressure of 7 psi to 15.9 psi in VWP -08
would result in a reduction of the Factor of Safety to below 1.5.
The referenced report also evaluated impacts to CWDA No. 2 stability of increases in pore
pressures in VWP -06. The analyses indicated that increases of up to 10 psi to 24.8 psi would not
reduce the Factor of Safety to below 1.5.
The monitoring data show a very slight decrease in pore pressure in VWP -06 and no change in
the pore pressure in VWP -08. Therefore, based upon the results of the recent pore pressure
monitoring data, HBET does not believe that there is any reduction in the stability of CWDA No.
2. In addition, based upon the errors previously identified by BGI resulting in lower pore
pressures in VWP -08, VWP -09, and VWP -10, HBET does not believe that ongoing monthly
monitoring is warranted. Quarterly monitoring is recommended.
We are pleased to be of service to your project.
