Please clarify if the 200 foot offset from the City of Thornton Reservoir slurry wall if from
the centerline of the slurry wall, eastern toe of the slurry wall embankment or other
reference point. Please update and mining and reclamation plan maps accordingly.
3. The Applicant did not specify an offset and mining slope for the north and east side of Phase
1. Please provide the proposed Phase 1 north and east side offset and mining slope.
4. The Applicant did not specify an offset and mining slope for the west side of Phase 2.
Please provide the proposed Phase 2 west side offset and mining slope.
5. Please update the Geotechnical Stability Exhibit for the north, east and south sides of the
mine to include the proposed slurry wall and anticipated hydrostatic level.
6. The Applicant did not provide a typical soil profile description or illustration. Please provide
a typical soil profile for the stability analyses.
7. Please provide geotechnical borehole data, if available, for the site for Division review.
8. Please provide any soil property lab data, if available, for the site for Division review.
9. Please provide a geotechnical stability analysis for the Phase 1 excavation being used as a
sediment pond during the mining operations in Phase 2.
10. Please provide the corresponding slope stability analysis data for the Deere & Ault analysis
to allow the Division to duplicate the analysis for verification purposes.
11. Please provide the Division with the slope stability monitoring plan to be used during mining
and reclamation activities at the site.
The Division will verify the Applicant's stability analysis models using Clover Technology's
Galena v6.0 slope stability software following the Applicant's response to this letter.
If you have any questions, please contact me at (303) 866 -3567 Ext. 8124.
Sincer
Peter S.
