Mr. Fontanari stopped me this morning while I was on my inspection and he informed me that at
approximately 6:00 a.m. he turned the water back on to his irrigation ditch, however at approximately 7:15 there
was no evidence of any flow in the ditch. I will check again in the morning to see if there is any flow. I arrived
at the South Portal at 7:45 a.m. to monitor the backfill seepage. The seepage flow continues to be clear with no
evidence of cloudiness or sediment. The flow at the portal area was measured with a flume and the flow is -- 43
gpm, which is approximately 6 gpm less than yesterday morning. The minimal seepage below the retaining wall
on the north side of the backfill appears to be the same, no visible increase or decrease. The highest saturation
point on the south side of the backfill does not appear to have increased, it might actually be drying up a little.
No new saturation areas were observed on the backfill or the surrounding area and no slumping or earth
movement was evident. Daily monitoring and updates will continue until further notice.
Tonya Hammond
Snowcap Coal Company, Inc.
J. E. Stover & Associates, Inc.
P.O.
