0010
General Shale
Building The American Dream,
November 18, 2014
Colorado Division of Reclamation, Mining, and Safety
Mr. Michael Cunningham
Environmental Protection Specialist
1313 Sherman Street, Room 215
Denver, CO 80203
Re: M- 1977 -251 Lariat Mine, Jefferson County, Colorado
Technical Revision Inert Fill Import TR -04
Extension request Number 2
Dear Mr. Cunningham:
RECEIVED
NOV 1 2014
DIVISION OF RECLAMATION
MINING AND SAFETY
A)
General Shale Brick, Inc. (GSB) is respectfully requesting another extension with a decision date of
January 9, 2015. The previous decision due date was November 21, 2014.
GSB had to reply to 3 corrective actions from the Division for 3 different clay mines and work on 4
import fill requests. To date 2 of the import fill requests have been completed and 2 of the corrective
actions are in process for being completed.
We have reviewed the following:
1. Tonnage of scrap brick we plan to haul to the mine site.
2. The reclamation plan map to determine the impact.
3. A plan on how to compact and backfill the areas with brick scrap.
4. If we have to stockpile the scrap brick, the stockpile locations for the brick.
This will allow us time to:
1. Inspect the mine to determine if and how we can place the material into the pit or whether we
have to stockpile the scrap brick.
2. If the scrap brick has to be stockpiled, determine the grade, cubic yards moved for each
stockpile location, and distances the scrap brick stockpiles have to be moved.
3. The equipment used for the final reclamation.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions at 303 - 783 -3058 or by email at
jason.mcgraw @generalshale.com.
Sincerely,
General Shale Brick, Inc.
Jason E.
