Further comment is offered on all three items below.
Item 1 —A letter dated June 30, 2014, from Edward C Nichols, Colorado State Historic
Preservation Officer, has requested that State law C.R.S. 24 -80 (part 13) be reviewed
and followed in the event that unmarked human remains should be encountered during
the excavation of gravel. Part 13 has been reviewed and guidelines have been put in
place to address the discovery of human remains on the site.
Item 2 — A corrected certification page (page 8) has been signed, notarized and
recorded. The corrected page is attached.
Item 3 — The dry creek bed within the Kokes Gravel Pit has not been disturbed during
the mining process. It will not be reclaimed. The rest of the pit which has been mined,
will have a 3/1 slope, six inches of topsoil, followed by a pasture grass blend and
crimped straw.
Please advise Logan County Planning and Zoning Department if this will adequately
address your concerns.
As always, thank you for your assistance.
