Buildings
There are eight private buildings present within the Bowie #2 Mine permit area. The
buildings are shown and described on Map 27B.
Power Lines
The Western Area Power Administration Curecanti -Rifle transmission line and
transmission towers located west of Terror Creek are within the limits of proposed mining.
Reservoirs
Terror Creek Reservoir lies entirely outside the limits of mining and should not be
affected by subsidence.
Pipelines
The Pitkin Mesa pipeline (aqueduct) is located within the western edge of the permit
boundary over an area of proposed mining.
Roads
Numerous jeep trails cross areas of predicted substantial subsidence. However,
subsidence should not result in serious damage to the roads provided surface fracturing
and cracking does not accompany the subsidence. Any minor damage which occurred
could be readily repaired with a grader and /or dozer. Portions of Terror Creek Road and
Hubbard Creek road are within the permit boundary and adjacent area. The Stevens Gulch
Road bisects the permit area and consists of a maintained gravel road surface. Secondary
roads and trails are present in the permit boundary and adjacent area.
Bridges
There are no bridges within the area of predicted subsidence at the Bowie #2 Mine.
Stockponds
There are numerous stockponds within and adjacent to the permit area. The
probability of subsidence disrupting a pond is remote. Most ponds are located in areas
covered by colluvial soils; the occurrence of subsidence cracks is less probable in these
PR -14 -29- 06/14
