2.04.7 Hydrology Description
likely site for a pond, spring, etc., was identified. Subsequently, in order to
verify the correct locations, search for additional features, characterize field
parameters (flow pH, temperature, and conductivity) , and ascertain
beneficial use, the Operators technical staff examined the area of study on
foot, where surface ownership consent was obtained. Some of the features
not visible from the air photographs were then located by standard field
mapping procedures.
The Operator considered seeps and springs synonymous during the
hydrology investigation. Ponds were presumably recharged by colluvial
seepage and as such no quality information is obtained for the ponds unless
they are discharging. Within the permit area seeps are common, especially
where colluvial material has been excavated to form storage ponds or roads.
Seeps are also common at the toe of colluvial material where the material
lies within a defined drainage. Seeps are presumably important in
maintaining discharge into storage ponds. Typical flows are approximately
less than five gallons per minute and most flows infiltrate back into the
ground before reaching a stream.
The Operator has water rights on ten springs located within or adjacent to
the permit boundary that are decreed water rights shown on Map 23 - Water
Rights Location. See the following table. The J & M Springs & Pipelines are
claimed for domestic and stock watering purposes. Water right numbers 1
and 3 are decreed for 4 gallons per minute. Number 2 is decreed for 2 gpm.
Numbers 4 and 5 are decreed for 5 gpm. The Bowie Spring S -3 is decreed
for 15 gallons per minute. The Leonard Spring No. 1 and 2 and the Barrow
Spring and pipeline water rights each have an absolute decree of 0.10 cfs.
The decreed water rights located on the Applicant's land are owned by the
Applicant. The left column on the table below is the map code shown on
Map 23.
PR -14 2.04-29- 03/14
