2.04.9
The USDA -FS has its own number for soils on USDA -FS managed surface. The
numbering system changed from the 1997 soils survey to the 2008 survey. Map 4a was
updated with the new numbering system. Following is a brief discussion of the soils
located on USDA -FS managed lands within and adjacent to the permit boundary:
MU124 - The Coberly - Falcon dry complex are well drained soils found on benches mesas
and ridges. The soil is derived from residuum weathered from sandstone. The
slopes range between 0 to 15 percent. The effective rooting depth is 20 to 40
inches. Depth to water table is more than 80 inches. The soil is not flooded or
ponded. Available water capacity is moderate.
MU130 - The Cryochrepts - Cryoborolls - Rubble land complex are well drained soils found
on canyons, mesas and mountains. The soils are derived from basalt and /or
colluvium derived from tuff breccia and /or colluvium derived from andesite and /or
colluvium derived from rhyolite and /or residuum weathered from basalt and /or
residuum weathered from andesite. The slopes range between 15 to 90 percent.
The effective rooting depth is 10 to 60 inches. Depth to water table is more than 80
inches. The soil is not flooded or ponded. Available water capacity is very low.
MU -131 The Cumulic Haploborolls is a well drained soil found on terraces. The soil is
derived from mixed source alluvium. The slopes range between 1 to 3 percent. The
effective rooting depth is 40 inches. Depth to water table is more than 80 inches.
The soil is occasionally flooded but not ponded. Available water capacity is very low.
MU149 & 150 - The Godding -Kolob family - Delson complex are well drained soils found on
mesas and benches. They are derived from overburden residuum weathered from
basalt and colluvium derived from basalt and /or interbedded colluvium derived from
sandstone and shale. The slopes range between 5 to 65 percent. The effective
rooting depth is greater than 60 inches. The Godding -Kolob component contains up
to 70 percent large stones. The soil is not flooded or ponded. Susceptibility to water
erosion is low to moderate.
MU153 - The Haploborolls - Ustochrepts -Rock outcrop complex are well drained soils found
on ridges, canyons and mountains. The soil is derived from mixed volcanic sources
colluvium and /or mixed volcanic sources residuum. The slopes range between 40
PR -14 2.04-112- 03/14
