MANAGEMENT
Permit stipulation #38 states: "Prior to any surface disturbance on lands within the Spruce
Stomp Lease Area (COC- 75916), the baseline vegetation information required under Rule
2.04.10 must be submitted to and approved by the Division ". The following information is
provided since the proposed Section 5 Road runs through a short section of the Spruce Stomp
Lease.
Bowie Resources LLC (BRL) hired Cedar Creek Associates, Inc. to perform the baseline
vegetation study required by stipulation #38. Cedar Creek had a crew of 4 at mine site from
July 30th thru August 4th performing the studies. Cedar Creek identified the following
vegetation communities; Aspen - Major, Mesic Oakbrush - Major, Xeric Oakbrush - Major,
Conifer - Minor, Sage /Meadow - Minor and Revegetation - Minor
Cedar Creek took approximately 50 samples in each major community and each sample
consisted of co- located point- intercept ground cover transects, 1/2 sq. meter production
quadrats, and 2m x 50m woody plant density belts. The reseeded areas were sampled for
Phase II bond release parameters. Cedar Creek was able to find suitable reference areas. The
attached map shows the areas where the vegetation study focused on reclaimed areas and
where block vegetation surveys were performed.
Cedar Creek will be preparing the final report early next year. The vegetation report required
by Stipulation #38 will be submitted to the Division by March 30, 2015.
Sincerely,
J. E. Sfov-eN
J. E. Stover, P.
