COMMENTS
This was a complete inspection of the Bear No. 3 Mine conducted by Susan Burgmaier of CDRMS. Weather
conditions at the time of the inspection were sunny; ground conditions were dry.
The permit for the Bear Mine has been revoked and the reclamation performance bond has been forfeited. The
Abandoned Mined Land program of DRMS will contract with a third party to complete the remaining reclamation
tasks for the site.

The backfilled and regraded slopes on the east side (portal access road) of the disturbed area were stable and
vegetated.

The Edwards Portal spring was discharging, directed to the Treatment Pond, which was full and discharging very
low flow, approximately 0.5 gpm to the North Fork of the Gunnison River.
The sediment pond was empty but wet along the western side of the pond bottom.
The flood control berm was stable and well vegetated.

The road providing access to the site from Highway 133 was in fair condition. The bridge crossing the North Fork
of the Gunnison River was in poor condition, but has not deteriorated significantly over the summer months.
