The location of this borrow area is between Ditch 3-9 and the overhead conveyor. The
purpose of material generated from this borrow area is to mix with gob over the winter months to aide in
compaction efforts. Approximately 8,000 CY of subsoil will be excavated from 0.7 acres. Of the total 0.7
acres, only 0.6 acres require topsoil salvage, Appendix A has been updated to reflect the anticipated salvage
volume.
At a later date, another revision application will be submitted to expand gob pile #3 to the west. This
expansion will fill in the borrow area created by this revision application.
The stability analysis performed for TR -84 takes into account the blending of native material with gob. This
operational process is discussed on Volume XI page 8 and in the HBEf stability analysis dated July 15, 2014.
Runoff from the borrow area will drain to Pond K. Pond K is currently sized to accept runoff from this area.
Adequacy item #18 from TR -91 has been addressed with this application submittal; Temporary Culvert 310
has been added to page 4b.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
Tamme Bishop, P.E.
Project Engineer
Revised Pages:
Volume IX: Pages 4a, 4b, 8, 10, and Appendix A
Cc: Bill Bear, Bowie Resources, LLC (electronically)
Paonia Public Library
Bureau of Land Management (electronically)
US Forest Service (electronically)
