Loveland Ready -Mix, Inc. Combined SWSP Page 2 of 6
October 29, 2014
continue to be augmented under the decree in case no. W -7412. Mining at Pit Nos. 2, 7, 8, 10 and 12
was completed prior to 1981 and have no depletions that require augmentation. Pit Nos. 16 and 17,
now known as Loveland Ready Mix Pond Nos. 1 and 2, have been lined and do not expose any ground
water'. Pit No. 19 has been mined and backfilled. Mining at Pit No. 20 may begin during this plan
period; however, at this time Pit No. 20 is not proposed to be included in this SWSP and an amended
SWSP will be sought if mining at Pit No. 20 will occur during this plan period. Therefore, only Pit
Nos. 13, 14, 15, and 18 are included in this SWSP.
The subject pits are currently augmented under LRM's plan for augmentation decreed in case
no. 2000CW142. The decreed augmentation plan relies on LRM's Barnes Ditch inches changed in case
no. 2000CW143 and storage releases from Loveland Ready Mix Pond Nos. 1 and 2, both of which are
typically delivered directly to the stream at the reservoir outlet works. During the flooding of the
Big Thompson River in September 2013, the storage ponds were heavily damaged. LRM therefore is
seeking to make replacements for the subject pits under this SWSP until the necessary repairs can be
completed and replacements can again be made pursuant to case no. 2000CW142.
Depletions
During this SWSP period, depletions will consist of evaporation losses at the Larimer, Mariana
Butte, and Baer Pits, and production depletions at the Larimer Pit. Total depletions for each site are
shown in the following table:
Table B - Site Depletions (acre -feet)
Site Name
Evaporation
P
Water Lost in
Concrete
Dust Control
Total
Mined Product
Production
Larimer Pit
(Pit Nos. 13, 14, 15, & 18)
83.30
0.07
5.46
5.22
94.05
Mariana Butte Pit
6.22
NA
NA
NA
6.22
Baer Pit
36.44
NA
NA
NA
36.44
Evaporative depletions were calculated using a gross annual evaporation of 3.15 feet (37.8
inches) from the post -1980 exposed water surface. Net evaporative depletions for the Larimer.Pit
include a credit of 7.20 acre -feet for 2.98 acres of phreatophytes, 9.05 acre -feet for 7.51 acres of
non - irrigated native vegetation, and 28.21 acre -feet for 30.08 irrigated acres. Net evaporative
depletions for the Mariana Butte Pit include a credit of 2.64 acre -feet for 2.81 irrigated acres. Net
evaporative depletions for the Baer Pit include a credit of 7.24 acre -feet for 6 acres of non - irrigated
native vegetation, and 10.51 acre -feet for 11.2 irrigated acres. The historic natural depletions
associated with the land covered by each type of vegetation were calculated as described in
paragraph 14.2.2 of case no. 2000CW142.
1 Loveland Ready Mix Pond No. 1 sustained liner damage during the flooding of September 2013. The liner has been
repaired and is currently being retested. If the retest of the liner is not successful, any ground water exposed in Pond No. 1
will need to be replaced, which may require an amendment to this SWSP.
