Schlosser Inc.
Regular 112 Permit Application
Schlosser Pit
EXHIBIT® - MIN/NC PLAN
(a) Method of Mining
The,topsoil will be removed with scrapers/dozers and stored along western border of the
mine site. Mining of the aggregate deposit will be done by front-end loaders. Materials will
be processed and removed from the site by haul trucks.
Access to the pit will be via County Roads.
(b)farthmoving
Earthmoving is proposed to be done primarily with front-end loaders and/or scrapers and
dozers.
(c) Water diversions and Impoundments
This site will be strictly a dry pit operation with no water diversion and/or impoundments.
Schlosser Inc will use berms and silt fences to contain normal overland flows from the dis-
turbed areas to prevent off-site damage and minimize damage to the hydrologic balances
with respect to normal surface water run-off resulting from precipitation events. The berms
will be earthen berms and will be constructed as needed. There is on evidence that water
erosion will be a problem. The Sandy Creek runs west to east to the north of the mining op-
eration. The mining will stop within 200' of the creek.
(d) Size of Area to be Worked
The size of area to be worked at one time is approximately 8 acres. The area will be mined
from west to east in 8 acres phases. There will be approximately 8 acres phases every 5
years with reclamation taking place in the 6th year.
(e)Approximate Timetable to Describe Mining Operation
Mining will commence as soon as the permit is approved. Mining will be ongoing until mate-
rial in the area has been depleted.
(f) Nature, Depth, and Thickness of Deposit and Thickness and Type of Overburden
The sand and gravel deposit is believed to be only between 6' to 8' thick in the permit area.
The deposit is covered by 14 to 18 inches of topsoil with little to no overburden. The nature
of the stratum immediately beneath the material to be mined is clay/shale.
D- 1
