TR-07 RECLAMATION PLAN
Potential Final Land Uses
The final land use for the remaining area to be mined is now clear. That use will be for
rangeland/wildlife habitat with a revegetation program intended to meet those ends.
Natural Values Matrix of the Property - Deleted
Applicability to Previously Mined Lands
(Deleted - No longer relevant as all previously
mined land has been fully reclaimed or
is in the final stages of reclamation. Management
provisions still apply.)
General Approach to Reclamation Process on This Land
Protection of the various resources required to properly rehabilitate the land after mining is a key
element of this reclamation plan. These resources include soils and overburden materials and, when
feasible, the seed bank contained in the soil. Through the replacement of these ingredients the highest
potential for success in establishing the required vegetation is made available.
But before those materials can be placed on the surface, a proper topography must be created. The
plan for the topography is to simulate, as closely as possible, the character of prairie land. As there is only
one area left to mine the character of that land is essentially a very gentle, nearly flat northward-trending
slope with a drainage to its east. Thus, maintaining the same character will be relatively easy. In the
revegetation plan, the emphasis is definitely on replacing the kind of species that are typically found in
these situations.
Backfill Requirements
OVERVIEW: Backfilling of the mining pits is a requirement of the lease and of this plan. Each
and every pit produced must be backfilled to meet the specifications contained in the Operations Plan
approved by to the Colorado State Board of Land Commissioners. A copy of the approved (New)
Operation Plan is included along with the new lease in the new Legal Right to Enter exhibit which is
Exhibit N. The backfilling process will produce a final topographic configuration that meets the standards
for deviation from the original topography. It has been determined that, due to the methods used in
backfilling, compaction to a particular standard is not required.
Coal Creek Sand Resource Amendment 3 (2005)- M-1988-044 Exhibit E Page 8
