October 16, 2014 C- 2009 - 087 /Peabody Sage Creek Mine JDM
GENERAL COMPLIANCE WITH MINE PLAN —
Heavy thistle growth was observed throughout the disturbance areas of the South Facilities Area. The thistle has
gone to seed and is approaching an infestation status. The approved weed management plan will need to be
adhered to, or if inadequate, will need to be revised to address the heavy noxious and invasive weed growth.
RECLAMATION SUCCESS - Rule 4.15, Rule 3:
The majority of the mine site was previously approved under the Seneca II Mine (C- 1980 -005). These areas, with
the exception of the currently approved disturbance boundary have been Phase II released. The reclaimed areas
are stable with good vegetation growth and no problems noted. SL -3 is a partial Phase III bond release currently
under review by the Division.
SUPPORT FACILITIES - Rule 4.04:
The explosives storage area was observed. Currently, no explosive materials are being stored on site and the ATF
Storage permit has expired. The area was stable and enclosed with chain - linked fencing. No problems were
noted.
SIGNS AND MARKERS — Rule 4.02:
Signs and markers were in place as permitted with no problems noted, with the exception of the following:
- The Mine ID sign displayed the name "Sage Creek Mine" rather than the permitted and approved "Peabody
Sage Creek Mine ".
Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 3
Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 2
Page 5 of 7
