ii. This revised section indicates the No. 9 portal and the No. 5 portal areas have
been reclaimed, however the volumes to be backfilled for these areas reported
on revised Table 63 have not changed from the currently approved Table. It
does not appear these volume account for the reclamation that occurred. Please
clarify this discrepancy and make the appropriate revisions to Table 63.
c. MCM Response #2: Please refer to previous response relative to Map 29. Table 63
has been revised to clarify that backfilling of certain areas has been completed, and
noted the corresponding volumes, and the revised table is included with these responses.
d. DRMS Response #2:
i. Revised Map M29a has been submitted, there is an orange cross hatch symbol
overlaying portions of the area. It is unclear what this symbol is depicting.
Please add a description of this layer in the legend of the map.
ii. The Division did not receive a copy of revised Table 63. Item #14(b)(ii) is still
outstanding and will need to be addressed.
e. MCM Response #3: The cross -hatch indicates mine disturbance areas, some of which
have been partially reclaimed. The solid shading indicates mine disturbance areas
which have been reclaimed, as noted in the legend. Given the previous comment
requesting that postmining land uses also be shown on this map, some modifications
have been made to the map to reflect all of the requested designations, and the revised
map accompanies these responses. The revised Table 63 accompanies these responses,
with the backfilled volumes highlighted and a notation that this work has been
completed.
f. DRMS Response #3: This item is resolved.
22. Permit page 2.05 -32c states that MCM will perform revegetation monitoring in the third year
following seeding. Several areas were reclaimed during the 2008 field season, making 2011 the
third growing season. MCM is reminded that revegetation monitoring is required for these
reclaimed areas this year. Please include the vegetation monitoring report with the 2011 Annual
Reclamation Report.
a. MCM Response: MCM is completing the required revegetation success monitoring in
conjunction with similar work for the nearby Seneca II and Yoast Mines. The resulting
monitoring information will be included with the 2011 Annual Reclamation Report.
b. DRMS Response: It does not appear MCM submitted the vegetation monitoring data
with the 2011 Annual Reclamation Report. However monitoring was conducted in
2011 on 11.5 acres reclaimed in 2008 and submitted with the SL -3 bond release
application. According to the 2013 Annual Reclamation Report, final reclamation was
completed on 17.1 acres encompassing the No. 9 Portal Area and adjacent Refuse
Disposal Area in May of 2009. Given the commitment discussed above, revegetation
monitoring should have been conducted on these areas in 2012. Please indicate if the
2012 monitoring was conducted?
