Canyon Sand and Gravel
P.O. Box 4362
Pagosa Springs CO
October 15, 2014
Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety
1313 Sherman St., Rm. 215
Denver CO 80203
Regarding Permit No. M-1988-057
2014 ANNUAL REPORT
This year Canyon Sand and Gravel ceased production of gravel and
has its crushing plant on the market to sell. There has been no new
excavation this year, or since our last report. When the crusher sells
and is moved away, the permited site for the crusher and stockpiles
will be touched up and the necessary reclamation will be completed.
The site is to become the parking area for fishermen who come to
fish the lake created by Canyon Sand and Gravel and for guests with
horse trailers to turn around and park. So very little reclamation will
be needed as shown in our approved Reclamation Plan.
Kathy Pickford inspected the site in the spring of 2014 and we were
notified that spill proof liners were needed below the two auxiliary fuel
tanks and oil drum. Because we have not been active this season,
the tanks and oil drum have remained empty and will remain so until
they leave the site with the crushing plant when it sells.
The island will be shaped by track hoe to make it smaller and
therefore higher as part of the final landscaping of the rocky site and
rocks will be placed for natural enhancement and xeriscaping with a
wheeled vehicle causeway left for accessibility. This will be done
when the track hoe comes in to help disassemble and make ready
the crushers for transport.
