PERMIT#:M-1999-006
INSPECTOR'S INITIALS:PSII
INSPECTION DATE:August 28,2014
Tract D is an inactive wash pond with material stockpiles along the eastern boundary of the tract. The tract
was not observed during this inspection. The Operator stated the tract would be backfilled to upland
rangeland as the post-mine land use.
Mined material from the Heintzelman Project site is conveyed to the site for processing. The Operator stated
topsoil from the Kurtz Project was conveyed to the Heintzelman Project for temporary storage due to the
limited storage space currently available at the Kurtz site.
The Operator has complied with the Colorado Division of Water Resources (DWR) requirement for long-term
augmentation for exposed groundwater by committing shares to the DWR. The approved post-mining land
use is general agriculture with three unlined ponds. The Operator started to construct a clay liner at Tract C
and Tract A to create sealed ponds. The construction of sealed ponds is a change in the post-mining land use
to developed water resource. The change in post-mine land use will require an amendment to the
reclamation permit be submitted by the Operator and approved by the Division prior to any future
consideration of release request for the site.
Photographs taken during the inspection at attached.
Inspection Contact Address
Mr. Chris Varra
Varra Companies, Inc.
8120 Gage Street
Frederick, CO 80516
Cc: Tom Kaldenbach, DRMS
