This water is expected
to carry excessive suspended solids which will be treated by the settling ponds shown on this drawing.
Following settling and passing through the artificial wetlands this water will be discharged via an approved
NPDES discharge point.
Designs shown are the initial construction. Slight modifications may occur during operation to better
improve efficiency of the structures while preserving the intent and general character of the designs.
Hydrologic modeling only used Ponds 3, 4, and the 'Last Chance' pond. The first two ponds are
considered operational for handling sediment. Ponds 5, 6, and 7 were added to incorporate an addition
safety factor allowing more time to respond to unforeseen treatment needs.
Artificial wetland are expected to evolve over time. Current construction is shown with additions/
modifications expected within the wetland footprint shown. The intent is to create shallow wetlands over
approximately 50% of the area. The actual extent will be dictated, in part, by the rate water is pumped
from underground. Water will be distributed through a series of berms and trenches.
Best management practices will be used to control erosion prior to vegetation establishment.
The area is surrounded by an exclosure fence designed to keep livestock out but to provide access for
wildlife. This is necessary to prevent damage to the wetlands and diversion structures associated with
this facility.
See Illustration 55 for detailed hydrologic modeling. This modeling includes only portions of the total
system. Therefore, the model is highly conservative as much more retention time and storage is in place.
2' min.
2.0' 4. 2• d50 1_B• 2.0' —
IIr 2 RIP RAPLU - r , ,
4' 1 -3' RIP RAP P 'H' FLUME— 1' MIN - '4' 2' d50
8 -12' THICK 12' RIP RM
SECTION A -A' SECTION B-B' d5o RIP RA➢ SECTION C -C'
EMERGENCY SPILLWAY FLOW UNE
5608 __.—FINISHED POND E
ORIGINAL GROUND
5606
PRIMARY SPILLWAY FLOW LINE-,
5604
FWME
5602 '-FlNISHED POND EXCAVATION F
CHANNEL FLOW I
5600
5598
0 +00 0 +10 0 +20 D +30 0 +40
SECTION D -D'
I have inspected the impoundments described herein
and certify that they have been constructed to the
intent of the design and in accordance with the
approved plan and applicable regulations.
Jason Tuttle 'FAV
Colorado Licensed `k
Professional Engineer #43992
i \Map 157\Map 157 - MR -162A,
GROUND
0 +50 D +60
1 As -built
2 Revised As -built to add more detail
3 Added Dewatering Ponds 5 & 6
4 As -built including Ponds 5 and 6
5 Expansion of LC Pond + Pond 7
No. I %evblaa
Scale: 1" = 30'
Contour interval: 1 foot
5/30/2012
6/28/2012
7/12/2012
3/07/2013
9/16/2014
Date Clr.
Subso
0 t)ok
p;v sM rig & Sa e1Y oh,
MH -ILO Io•7!`i C1R'AI -01'R
BLUE MOUNTAIN ENERGY, INC.
DESERADO MINE RANGELY, COLORADO
Map 157 B -Seam Dewatering
by.
