COLORADO
Division of Reclamation,
Mining and Safety
Department of Natural Resources
1313 Sherman Street,Room 215
Denver,Colorado 80203
DATE: September 19,2014
TO: File,Franson Pit,Permit No.M-2014-051
FROM: Elliott Russell(DRMS)
RE: Concerns Regarding Access Road
On September 18,2014 the Division called the consultant, Stevan L. O'Brian, for the 110c new application Franson
Pit (M-2014-051). The Division and Mr. O'Brian discussed the Division's concerns regarding the proposed
operation and its access road. The Division could not locate the pre-existing access road, as mentioned in the mining
and reclamation plan of the application, on a Google Earth image from June 1, 2013. Mr. O'Brian stated that the
road must not have been cut in there and was only a lightly used two-track through a field. Based on the
improvements to this trail mention in the application, the Division requested that this would be a new mining related
disturbance and needed to be included within the proposed permit boundary. Mr. O'Brian agreed and said he would
prepare revised pages for the permit (maps, narrative, and acreages if needed) before the Division's completeness
date.
cO0
1313 Sherman Street, Room 215, Denver, CO 80203 P 303.866.3567 F 303.832.8106 http://mining,state.co.us I rFe \\90
John W.
