Dear Mr. Scott,
On behalf of our client, Martin Marietta, Inc. (MM), GEI is requesting a land release
at the MM Three Bells Mine, DRMS permit number M -1979 -191, in Windsor,
Colorado. The Three Bells Mine consists of two properties: Veldman and Ditullio.
MM is requesting that land be released from both the Veldman and the Ditullio
properties.
The original (1979), and current, permitted mine acreage is listed as 360 acres, more
or less. The current mine boundary is presented on Figure 1. MM proposes the
permitted acreage be reduced by 47.25± acres to 312.75± acres, as shown on Figure
2 and Figure 3. The land to be released from both the Ditullio and Veldman
properties is described below.
The proposed permit boundary within the Ditullio property is presented on Figure 2
and consists of most of Parcel II (173.95± acres), as shown in Figure 2. Parcel III
(165.43± acres) is shown on Figure 2, but is not within the M- 1979 -191 permit
boundary. A small triangle- shaped piece of land of 1.0± acres is not included in the
current permit boundary. The current mine permit boundary contains several
undisturbed areas in the northeast and in the southeast comers of the property, as
shown on Figure 1. MM is requesting these areas be released from the current
permit boundary. The total area proposed to be released from the Ditullio Property
as shown on Figure 2, is 27.05± acres. The total permitted area to remain would be
in Parcel II (173.95± acres) less the small area on the east side (1.0± acres), as
shown on Figure 2, for a total of 172.95± acres.
The proposed permit boundary within the Veldman Property is presented on Figure
3 and consists of Tract 1 (35.02± acres), Tract 2 (35.00± acres), Tract 3 (34.80±
acres), and Tract 4 (34.98± acres) in addition to undisturbed land in the northeast
comer, owned by John and Brenda Graves. These areas are shown on Figure 1. MM
is requesting the area owned by John and Brenda Graves be released. The total
Veldman area to be released is 20.2± acres, as shown on Figure 3.
