MANAGEMENT
RECEIVE®
OCT 0 7 2014
A1G,p
There was a significant precipitation event at the McClane Canyon Mine on September 9,
2014. Approximately 2.0 inches of rain fell in a 24 -hour period. One inch of rain fell in less
than a one hour period. This extreme precipitation event overcame the sedimentation
control system. The sediment pond filled with water and water overflowed the emergency
spillway. Water also flowed over the sediment pond's the north and west embankments.
Additionally, water ran off the site in the ephemeral channels. The Operator is not
requesting a waiver of discharge limits since the lab reports for the sediment pond
discharge were is compliance with the permit limitations.
Enclosed please find discharge monitoring reports for CDPS Permit No. CO 0038342,
outfalls 001 and 002. The reports are for September and the third quarter of 2014.
Sincerely,
J. E. Stover, P.E.
Consulting Engineer
Enclosures
cc: Mine Records
DMRDMG
