Russell
Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety
1313Sherman St., Room 215
Denver, CO 80203
Dear Mr. Russell, 'Iz0 4- 051
The Colorado Department of Parks and Wildlife (CPW) has reviewed your request for
comments regarding wildlife impacts from the permitting of the Franson Family
Partnership 110 pit construction materials reclamation permit at the following location:
- Section 31, Township 5N, Range 48W.
A site visit to the location was conducted and it has been determined that there will be no
significant impacts to local wildlife species or wildlife habitats.
If during construction wildlife species, dens or nests are encountered we recommend that
you contact the local District Wildlife Manager or a Colorado Parks and Wildlife Office
as soon as possible to avoid the accidental take of that species. The CPW also
recommends that proper measures be taken to prevent the establishment and spread of
noxious weeds during the life of the gravel mine. When the mine is no longer in use we
recommend that you contact the local Natural Resources Conservation Service (MRCS)
field office for suggestions regarding seed mixes and proper re- vegetation methodologies.
On behalf of the CPW, I would like to thank you for the opportunity to review and
comment on these projects. If you have any further questions, please feel free to call
District Wildlife Manager Josh Melby at (970) 848 -0683.
Sincerely,
Josh Melby
Rect.-
FD
DI f OCT 0'2'7014
.
or F aTi
0 SA.1, ON
STATE OF COLORADO
John W.
