1313 Sherman Street, Room 215, Denver, CO 80203 P 303.866.3567 I
1876
1
Segment 13b, Foidel Creek
Segment 13a, Trout Creek to Fish Creek
Typical flow patterns were exhibited in Foidel Creek at Site
008, 800, and 14, located immediately downstream and
upstream from the Foidel Creek Mine respectively. Foidel
Creek at Site 008 is fed by surface runoff and coal spoil
leachate springs on the historical Eckman Park /Energy Fuels
coal mining area. Water quality parameters at these sites
were within previously established ranges in 2013.
The Wadge overburden and the Twentymile Sandstone are
the two aquifers most likely to be affected by mining. If the
workings are developed to the maximum extent approved,
the monitoring locations of both formations will be
upgradiant from mine workings. The following wells serve
as the Foidel Creek Mine's ground water points of
compliance: 97013TM ( Twentymile Sandstone), 008 -77 -58
( Wadge overburden), 008 -AU3 (Fish Creek alluvium), 008 -
AT-1 (Trout Creek alluvium), and 008 -AV -2 (Foidel Creek
alluvium.) The mine's annual hydrology reports contain
long -term data from these wells. These data show the
11. Sampling frequency
Exhibit 14 of CDRMS
Foidel Creek mine is in compliance with the Basic Standards
at surface water sites
mining permit C -82 -056
for Ground Water at the points of compliance, with the
exception of the following:
The ground water point of compliance well for the Trout
Creek alluvium, 008 -AT -1, was identified as being destroyed
in November of 2012. As such, no data has been collected
for the Trout Creek alluvium since April of 2012. A
determination of compliance since April 2012 cannot be
made due to a failure to collect and submit the required
data.
The Division understands that 008 -AT -1 was re- established
in the summer of 2014 and monthly water monitoring has
been ongoing since the re- establishment of the well.
1313 Sherman Street, Room 215, Denver, CO 80203 P 303.866.3567 I
1876
1
