1
INSPECTION OF MINING OPERATION
` PIKE NATIONAL FOREST, SOUTH PARK RANGER DISTRICT
Inspection Date, Time'*/July 16, 2014; 14:00 pm
Claim Name Amazonite 8, Unpatented Mining Claims
Operator Name/Signature Russell Painter/David Hanlin
Inspector Name/Signature Amy Titterington, Geologist
Background:
Mr. Painter and his family have been prospecting on this claim since it was originally filed in 1998. There is
currently one large hand-dug prospect (called "Grandpa's Hole"by the claimant), on the west central portion of
the claim that is approximately 15 feet wide by 20 feet long(300 sq ft), and a large disturbed area measuring 60
feet by 80 feet (4800 sq ft). Mr. Painter would like to connect the prospect pit to the large disturbed area via a
trench measuring approximately 20 feet wide by 60 feet long(1200 sq ft). Mr. Painter is proposing to use
mechanized equipment for his operation. Mr. Painter is in the process of revising/completing his Plan of
Operations, and expects to have it submitted by mid-August.
Remarks:
I met Russell Painter and his friend David Hanlin on site to discuss their proposed Plan of Operations for the
Amazonite 8 mining claim. Mr. Painter is proposing to dig one trench approximately 20' by 20' by 60' across
the Amazonite 8 claim, connecting the prospect pit to the large disturbed area, using mechanized equipment
(skid steer, track hoe). Mr. Painter plans to access his claim using USFS route 755, and a reclaiming jeep trail,
which would be authorized in his PoO. I informed Mr. Painter that he would also need to contact the State of
Colorado (DRMS)regarding his proposed mining activities. The site is generally clean and well maintained.
Recommendations:
Once a complete Poo has been submitted, I will begin the NEPA process and calculate a reclamation bond.
