Department of Higher Education,Office of the State Archaeologist,and Historic Preservation <br /> It is contrary to state law to excavate,appropriate or disturb any historical,prehistoric,or archaeological <br /> site or resource on any lands administered by Lessor without an appropriate permit. Upon the discovery <br /> of a suspected site or resource,Lessee shall immediately cease operations which might impact the <br /> suspected historical,prehistoric,or archaeological site or resource,including its context and environment, <br /> and Lessee shall immediately notify Lessor and the State Archaeologist of the discovery,and thereafter <br /> Lessee shall comply with State Archaeologist requirement. Lessee may provide evidence,satisfactory to <br /> the State Archaeologist,that no significant archaeological sites exist on the Leased Premises which could <br /> be destroyed by Lessee's operations. Lessee shall keep DOC apprised of the status of any suspected <br /> historical,prehistoric,or archaeological site or resource,from the point of discovery through to release of <br /> protection from the State Archaeologist. <br /> 7.
