Weather conditions were clear with the
temperature around eighty five degrees fahrenheit and ground conditions were dry. The mine permit was revoked
and the bond forfeited in 1994. The Fruita Mine site is fully reclaimed and there was no activity at the mine site at
the time of the inspection.
AVAILABILITY OF RECORDS — Rule 5.02.4(1):
This is a bond forfeiture site and all applicable records are maintained by the Division.
BACKFILL and GRADING — Rule 4.14
Contemporaneous Reclamation 4.14.1; Approximate Original Contour 4.14.2; Highwall Elimination 4.14.1(2)(f);
Steep Slopes 4.14.2, 4.27; Handling of Acid and Toxic Materials 4.14.3; Stabilization of Rills and Gullies 4.14.6:
Grading along the reclaimed haul road remains stable. It is observed that roughening of the surface has
significantly reduced the potential for erosion and increase vegetative growth. Prior to the inspection,
approximately .4 inches of precipitation was recorded in the surrounding area over two day period. During the
inspection, there were no signs of any cutting or erosion along the reclaimed slopes.
Backfill over the reclaimed portals have begun to erode due to runoff from precipitation events. Currently, there is
no visible showing of the portals.
Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 0
Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 1
Page 2 of 5
