9/22/2014 State.co.us Executive Branch Mail - Fwd: Blasting Records Discussion
STATE", OF
COLORADO
Please scan this e-mail as a General Doc.
---- - - - - -- Forwarded message ---- - - - - --
From: Ebert - DNR, Jared <jared.ebert@state.co.us>
Date: Fri, Sep 19, 2014 at 11:40 AM
Subject: Blasting Records Discussion
To: "tom trappermine.com" <tom trappermine.com>
Hello Tom,
Thank you for taking my call today. The Division is reviewing your letter dated August 29, 2014 that you sent to
Marcia Talvitie regarding the Trapper Mine Blast Log Summary Form. We may have some additional questions
after we have finished our review. I called today to discuss of few of the items.
As you requested, I am e- mailing you to summarize what we discussed today. The first item we discuss was
issue #4 of your letter. I called to see if Trapper had modified the blast summary form to include a space to
record not only the distance but also the identification and direction from the nearest blast hole to the nearest
dwelling, school, church, or community or institutional building not located in the permit area or not owner nor
leased by Trapper Mine per Rule 4.08.5(4). Based on our discussion, Trapper is working on modifying the form.
We also briefly discussed compliance with Rule 4.08.5(l 1) which requires the maximum weight of explosives
used per 8- millisecond period be recorded on the blasting record form.
The last item we discussed was regarding airblast monitoring information required to be recorded. Per section
3.4.3, page 3 -31 of Trapper's permit, Trapper has committed to conducting airblast monitoring. Rule 4.08.5(17)
requires mines who conduct airblast monitoring to log the exact location of the instrument and the date, time and
its distance from the blast. Given Trapper's commitment to conduct airblast monitoring and the Rule requirement
this information should be recorded on the blast summary form. Please ensure this information is being
recorded.
Please let me know if you have further questions.
Thank you,
Jared
Jared r
https: / /mail.google.com /mail /u /0 / ?ui= 2 &ik= e29129fcb5& view =pt& search = inbox &th= l488f017b7d9abl b &siml= 1488f017b7d9abl b 1/2
