September 18, 2014 C- 1981 - 028 /Keenesburg Strip Mine JLE <br />Sediment Pond No. 2 was dry. The inlets and outlets appeared clear and functional and the pond side slopes were <br />stable. <br />The Dugout Pond was dry. The inlets and outlets appeared clear and functional and the pond side slopes were <br />stable. <br />The northern perimeter ditch was clear and functional. <br />RECLAMATION SUCCESS - Rule 4.15, Rule 3: <br />Desired vegetation is establishing in all of the revegetated parcels. <br />REVEGETATION — Rule 4.15; Vegetative Cover; Timing: <br />Reclamation parcels 32, 31, 30, 29 and 23 were observed at the southern end of B -Pit. Area 32 was the most <br />recently revegetated parcel and desired vegetation has begun to establish, however the dominant vegetation <br />appears to be annual forbs. Perennial grass species have well established on the other parcels. Annual forbs like <br />prickly lettuce and horse tail were very prominent this year in all of the reclamation parcels. Cheatgrass does not <br />appear to be as prevalent as observed in previous years in the reclaimed area. <br />Area 25 was observed. Dwarf sunflower and a purple aster are prevalent in this area. Perennial grass species have <br />begun to establish in this parcel. <br />SIGNS AND MARKERS — Rule 4.02: <br />The mine entrance sign was in place and the boundary markers around the site were observed and appear in the <br />proper location. <br />TOPSOIL — Rule 4.06 <br />Removal 4.06.2; Substitute Materials 4.06.4(4); Storage and Protection 4.06.3; Redistribution 4.06.4: <br />Topsand piles A -I and B -1 have been used as a source of material for retopsoiling reclamation parcels recently. <br />The excavations made on these piles have been graded to a stable configuration.
