Responses to Division of Mining Reclamation and Safety(DRMS)Adequacy Review of Letter Dated
September 8,2014
By C.A. Braun—September 16,2014
Application
Comment 1 Permitted Area
Response:
The reviewer is correct that the Number"3"was hand written in,and it was written in by me. In Exhibit
A, I rounded the area to tenths of an acre and in the others, I rounded to hundredths. For all practical
purposes both numbers are the same and the difference as it might affect the value of the reclamation
bond calculation is less than$100,compared to a total site bond of greater than$20,000. Tim,you
choose if you would prefer to round to tenths or hundredths. Since you commented, I recommend that
we chose the 9.3S number, but we can go whichever way you like.
Comment 2 Range 70 West
Response:
Thanks for catching this typing error,as it has escaped all the proofers. It is in fact Range 70 West.
Comment 3 Item 14-Toxic materials/acid mine drainage
Response:
The statement that"no acid mine drainage exists nor is any anticipated to occur, and no use of
designated chemicals is anticipated" is a correct statement. The district generally is not made up of acid
generating rock, and since the water table is at such a low elevation as compared to the project area,
there is no chance of intercepting static water at the elevations that exploration is occurring. The
statement concerning the"rocks" is also correct in that no materials that are grossly acid generating
have been found to date. The DRMS comments concerning toxic materials refers to paragraph 1 of Rule
1, regarding acids, bases and metallic compounds. The project is still in exploration phase, and no acids,
bases, or metallic compounds, in any significant quantities have been discovered. Based on the geology
of the district, it is unlikely that any will be found.
We are not certain what the reviewer means by the term strata, as this term does not represent the
geology we see at this project. I am guessing that the reviewer means geologic unit, and if this correct,
1
