(GSB) is providing Technical Revision JR) which is a notice of intent to
backfill inert structural fill, generated outside of the permit area at the Pioneer Mine per rule 3.1.5.9.
We have enclosed a check for the TR fee of$216.
Placement of the scrap brick will assist in site reclamation by providing additional fill material as
replacement for mined materials.
The inert fill material will consist of scrap brick generated from the GSB's Denver brick plant. We
anticipate placing 20,000 tons of scrap brick into the pit. An affidavit is attached certifying that the
scrap brick mix is inert and "clean".
We plan on hauling the scrap brick and placing it on the clay stockpile pad areas (inside the current
disturbance boundary). Then when concurrent reclamation begins approximately in 2020 we will
place the scrap brick into the pit. We do not anticipate any settling and voids due to the placement of
these materials because the materials will be placed in 5-10 foot lifts, blended with the current
overburden materials and compacted. The scrap brick will be hauled starting on or about September
29, 2014 and ending September 29, 2024.
These materials will not impact surface water runoff quality, because these materials does not contain
contaminants, and local area storm water runoff is diverted away from the mine disturbed area. The
scrap brick will not contaminate ground water because it has been fired to a high temperature.
Further, these materials will not be placed below the saturated zone.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions at 303-783-3058.
Sincerely,
General Shale Brick, Inc.
Jason E.
